Setting up your email in Microsoft Outlook
The instructions are for setting up your email account in Microsoft Outlook.
It will only take you 5 minutes to set up your email account so that you can send and receive emails with you new email address.
When you email account was set up, I will have emailed you certain details:
These are:
- Your website address (URL)
- Incoming mail server (POP3) details
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP) details
- Your newly setup email address
- Your username (quite often the same as your email address
- Your password
For clarity, the following instructions will use the following made up details.
- Your website address (URL) : www.yourdomain.co.uk
- Incoming mail server (POP3) : pop3.yourdomain.co.uk
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP) : smtp.yourdomain.co.uk
- Your email address : james@yourdomain.co.uk
- Your username : james@yourdomain.co.uk
- Your password : james45
All you need to do is follow the instructions below and substitute the details given above for the details that I have emailed you.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
1) Open Microsoft Outlook and click on 'Tools' in the top menu
2) From the drop down menu - select 'E-mail Accounts...'
If you are setting up your email account for the first time then go to step 3, if you are updating the existing details of an email account, then go to step 9 now.
3) Select 'Add a new email account' and click NEXT
4) Now select 'POP3' and click NEXT

5) Now fill in the details that I emailed you. I have filled in the details below for demonstration purposed with the demonstration details at the top of this page.

6) From the above page, now click on the 'More Settings...' button. The next page will open with the 'General' tab selected. In the 'Mail Account' box, type in something meaningful to you such your own email address.

7) Then click on the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top of the page. On this page make sure the 'My outgoing server (SMTP) required authentication is ticked and the 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected. This page should look like the image below.
8) Now click 'OK' at the bottom of this page, click 'Next >' on the bottom of the 'Internet E-mail Settings (POP3)' page, then click 'Finish' on the 'E-mail Accounts' page. Now go to step 14 below to test your newly set up email account.
9) Select 'View or change existing email accounts' and click 'Next >'. And on the following page select the email account that you wish to update and click on the 'Change...' button to the right.
10) Now fill in the details that I emailed you. I have filled in the details below for demonstration purposed with the demonstration details at the top of this page.

11) From the above page, now click on the 'More Settings...' button. The next page will open with the 'General' tab selected. In the 'Mail Account' box, type in something meaningful to you such your own email address.

12) Then click on the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top of the page. On this page make sure the 'My outgoing server (SMTP) required authentication is ticked and the 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected. This page should look like the image below.
13) Now click 'OK' at the bottom of this page, click 'Next >' on the bottom of the 'Internet E-mail Settings (POP3)' page, then click 'Finish' on the 'E-mail Accounts' page.
Testing your email account in Microsoft Outlook
14) Your email account is now set up. Please now test your email account. To do this, open Microsoft Outlook, and select 'New' (highlighted in red below)
15) Now send me an email to james@blueskysolutions.co.uk as below. IMPORTANT - before you click 'Send', click on the 'Accounts' menu and select the email account that you have just set up to ensure that you are sending me an email from your new account. If you don't have any other email accounts set up on your computer, then your new one will be the default. Click the 'Send' button when you're done.

16) All being well, you should get an email back from me shortly confirming that I have received your email. Now go and have a nice cup of tea!
